Funding for Debt Advice in the North West and London 2019-22
August 3, 2018

The following has been published by The Money Advice Service.

We are delighted to announce that we have opened applications for debt advice funding in the North West of England and London for 2019-22, with up to £7.5 million in the first year available to potential partners from July 2019.

We are looking to fund organisations who will work in partnership to deliver high-quality free debt advice to over-indebted people, in line with our strategic approach to debt advice commissioning.

Funding is open to applications from all types of organisations, which may apply as a single applicant or as part of a wider consortium. The deadline for applications is 12:00 pm on Wednesday 31 October 2018.

Organisations wishing to apply should register on the MAS eSourcing portal in order to access information relating to our funding for debt advice, including application forms. This can be accessed here: mas.bravossolution.co.uk.

The Money Advice Service: Commissioning Strategy in London and the North West

In December 2017, MAS published A strategic approach to debt advice commissioning 2018-2023, a brand new, five-year strategy, which sets out our approach to commissioning free to client debt advice services across the UK.

Based on an analysis of supply and need, levels of over indebtedness, client outcomes and other regional data, London and the North West were identified as priority regions where our new strategic approach to commissioning will begin in 2018.

Following our recent stakeholder events, they have reflected on feedback relating to the commissioning timelines for London and the North West and have amended the timeline as follows:

Further information on the London and North West commissioning web pages will be added to the website later this week including the slides from the events and details of thier supply map.

Integrating FinCap and Debt Advice

The Money Advice Service and Aperture IVA have released a new study looking at integrating FinCap into the debt advice process.

Understanding how these complimentary advice disciplines can be ‘blended’ to improve outcomes for clients is a key strategic theme for MAS, and as we wrote earlier this year, is one of the priorities of the second round of What Works funding.

Results from this formative study were promising and will help inform our wider programme of work on FinCap and debt.
